The Urubamba River flows from the high Andean mountain ranges to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, passing through Machu Picchu and deep into the jungle. The Urubamba is divided into the Upper Urubamba and Lower Urubamba, the dividing feature being the Pongo de Mainique, a whitewater canyon that flows into the Amazon plain. It has exciting white waters depending on the section of the river and the time of the year. One of our most popular rafting sections during the season is the “Chuquicahuna- (CHUQUI)” section of the river in the Upper Urubamba. There are good class III rapids and the water is not polluted.
