Distance from Oxapampa to El Leon Waterfall

The distance between Oxapampa and El Leon Waterfall, which is located on the well known Coffee Route, a few kilometers from Villa Rica. This natural resource is part of the tourist attractions of the district of Villa Rica, in the province of Oxapampa, Pasco region. This waterfall is located in the Oxapampa-Asháninka-Yanesha Biosphere Reserve.

The waterfall El León obtains its waters from the Yezu River and precipitates them in two slopes, where the highest one reaches 16 meters. The rushing water playfully splashes down the rocky walls of the slope, forming beautiful rainbows as it is captured by the sun’s rays.

The El León waterfall falls into natural pools of considerable depth, where it is possible to swim, cool off and even dive.

How to get to La Cascadas El León?

In order to reach this waterfall, it is necessary to take a short walk of no more than 100 meters from the entrance to the site. This short hike allows the visitor to witness a panoramic view of the waterfalls, thanks to the presence of the suspension bridge over which you have to pass.

The road before the entrance to the waterfall can be followed by bus or private vehicle. Despite being in a protected area, it is not necessary to pay to enter the resource. The best time to visit the waterfall is between November and April, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
