The Huaca Pucllana
The pyramid-shaped temple of Huaca Pucllana is located in the heart of Miraflores and is now incongruously surrounded by buildings. Built with adobe and clay bricks, a building material that would never have survived more than 1,000 years in any other climate, the pyramid consists of seven stepped platforms.
The Lima Culture, for which the pyramid was built, developed on the central coast of Peru between 200 and 700 AD. C. From the artifacts discovered here, it is known that it was important as a ceremonial and administrative center.
The area is divided into two sections, one of which shows evidence of being used for fish offerings, while the other appears to have been administrative. A burial vault with human remains was discovered here, and artifacts have been found from the later Wari culture, which thrived in this area from approximately 500 to 900 AD.
You must tour the complex with a guide, but the tours are fairly inexpensive.
