I finally had the opportunity to visit Caral in 2022. But I had high expectations for this place because most people who visit and do not visit say that Machu Picchu is much more impressive, but Caral has more history that is very important for human history

Overall, yes I would recommend to go there, but don’t expect Machu Picchu or the Pyramids of Egypt. Most Peruvians haven’t visit Machu Picchu and for them, Caral is as good as it gets, so they will hype it. If you love history, cultures and exploring, then don’t miss it!

If you want to learn about the civilizations of the New World that rival those in Egypt, Mesopotamia and Greece for their antiquity and splendor you must visit Caral for its pyramids, Chan Chan, the Temples of the Sun and Moon near Trujillo, the Lord of Sipan museum in Chiclayo and the Pachacamac site and Nazca lines which are south of Lima

These civilizations go back millenia and exhibit great buildings, incredible pottery and textiles and exquisite burials that rival those of Tut. Only visiting Machu Picchu is like reading the period at the end of the sentence and not the sentence.

It seems the ruins have undergone some nice upgrade with most explanation boards in spanish/english and interpretation centre (spanish only).
You have to be accompanied onsite to ensure its preservation. (ruins about 5000 years old)
